Price elasticity software for SaaS that shows what a price change does to revenue

Price elasticity software answers one question before you touch a price: how many customers do you lose, and how much revenue do you gain, if the price moves. Monetisation reads your pricing page and, once connected, Stripe through a read-only key. It estimates each price change as a low, expected and high monthly dollar range with the churn assumption written next to it, and on Growth and Scale it tests the change on part of your visitors against a holdout.

Who needs price elasticity software

A SaaS founder, head of growth or finance lead who is about to move a price and wants to know the downside first. Typical moments:

  • You have not raised the price since launch and usage per account keeps growing.
  • A competitor changed its price and you need to decide whether to follow.
  • You are adding a higher tier and are unsure how many accounts will move up.
  • A discount keeps being asked for and you cannot tell whether the price or the buyer is the problem.

Textbook elasticity needs lots of price points and lots of buyers. A SaaS company has a handful of price points and a few hundred accounts. So the practical tool is not a curve, it is a range, a break-even and a measured test.

Opportunities, ranked by expected value Example
Pricing Raise the Pro plan price 12 percent for new customers 300 accounts pay $79 and the plan has not moved since launch.
Estimate, per month +$2,200 $700 to $3,500
Method: Plan revenue times a 12 percent increase, minus 2 to 10 percent assumed extra churn at the new price.

What Monetisation does with elasticity

Question What Monetisation shows Why it matters
How much churn can this price rise absorb The break-even extra churn rate for the change If you lose fewer accounts than that, revenue goes up
What is the likely revenue effect Low, expected and high monthly dollars with assumptions Finance can check the arithmetic
Which plan is least sensitive Revenue, churn and discounts per plan from Stripe Start with the tier where customers already pay without a discount
Does the market react as assumed Revenue per visitor against a holdout on Growth and Scale A real read instead of a guess
Did it work after rollout Period after against the baseline trend Closes the loop on every change

The estimate methodology lays out how each figure is built and what the confidence label means.

A price rise worked through

This example is illustrative, not a customer result. Suppose 300 accounts pay 79 USD a month on a plan and you consider 89 USD, a rise of about 12.7 percent.

Measure Today At 89 USD
Accounts 300 300 minus churn
Monthly revenue 23,700 USD depends on churn
Break-even accounts 23,700 divided by 89, or 266
Break-even extra churn 34 accounts, about 11.3 percent

If extra churn stays under 11 percent, revenue rises. At 3 percent extra churn (9 accounts) revenue is 291 times 89 USD, or 25,899 USD, a gain of 2,199 USD a month. At 12 percent, revenue falls short of today. Most SaaS buyers react less than a pricing committee fears, but the break-even number tells you how wrong the guess can be before it hurts. The SaaS price increase page explains how to roll out to new customers first and notify existing ones.

How it works in four steps

  1. Paste your pricing page. Monetisation reads tiers, prices and limits and builds a first audit with no card.
  2. Connect Stripe read-only. Real subscriptions give plan revenue, churn, discounts and the yearly share.
  3. Review the ranked changes. Each opportunity shows evidence, a dollar range and the risk. Pick the best expected value.
  4. Apply and measure. You change the price in your billing. Monetisation measures the period after against the baseline.

Test the reaction instead of guessing

On Growth and Scale, a JavaScript snippet with server-side assignment shows a price variant to part of your visitors and holds some back. It reports revenue per visitor against Stripe revenue. Read the method and its limits on the pricing experimentation software page. Small sites often cannot reach a clean result in weeks, and Monetisation says so instead of declaring a winner early.

+6.8% Interval +1.9% to +11.4% -20%0+20%
Example verdict with illustrative figures. Every test reports lift with an interval and a plain verdict.

How this differs from other options

Option Best for Where it falls short for elasticity
Spreadsheet and a formula A quick back-of-envelope No billing data, no ranking, no measurement
Retail and ecommerce price optimization tools Many SKUs and thousands of sales Built for product catalogs, not subscription tiers
Subscription metrics dashboards MRR and churn reporting Show history, do not estimate a change
Pricing consultants Buyer research and positioning Quoted per project, see consulting versus software
Monetisation SaaS price changes in dollars, tested and measured Stripe-first, and billing changes stay in your hands

Choose a plan

Plan Monthly billing A month billed yearly Best for
Starter 99 USD 49 USD Analysis, playbooks and billing changes you apply
Growth 399 USD 199 USD Price and page tests with a holdout
Scale 1,199 USD 599 USD Larger test volume, API and webhooks

Questions

What is price elasticity software?

Price elasticity software estimates how demand responds when you change a price. For SaaS that means extra churn, fewer signups or fewer upgrades at the new price, set against the higher revenue per account. Monetisation turns that into a dollar range for each change and measures the real result afterward.

How do you calculate price elasticity for a SaaS product?

Divide the percentage change in customers or conversions by the percentage change in price. A 10 percent price rise that loses 3 percent of buyers is an elasticity of about minus 0.3, so revenue grows. The hard part is getting a real number, which needs a test or a before and after read on billing data.

Can you measure price elasticity without a big sample?

Only roughly. Small SaaS companies rarely have enough traffic for a clean test, so the honest approach is a range of assumptions, such as 2 to 10 percent extra churn, and a rollout to new customers first. Monetisation shows the range and the break-even churn rate so you can judge the risk.

Does Monetisation calculate a single elasticity number?

No. It estimates revenue impact as a low, expected and high dollar range with the assumption shown, and measures the outcome after you apply the change. A single coefficient looks precise but hides how little data most SaaS pricing decisions rest on.

What data does it need?

A pricing page URL gives you a first audit with no card. Connecting Stripe with a restricted read-only key adds plan revenue, churn, discounts and billing interval from real subscriptions. It never changes your prices or charges.

Can I test a price before changing it for everyone?

Yes on Growth and Scale. A snippet with server-side assignment shows a price or plan layout variant to part of your visitors and keeps a holdout, then reports revenue per visitor against Stripe revenue. Starter covers changes you apply yourself.
